How to Make a Delicious Fruit Smoothie under 300 calories?

As I wrote in my previous post, it’s essential not to exceed 300 calories per smoothie serving.

I’m going to show you how to prepare 5 simple fruit smoothie recipes under 300 calories in 5 minutes or less.

!!! Important notice!!!

In order make a healthy low calorie smoothie, please don’t use sweetened or flavored milk and yogurt, or juices and soda, for that matter!
They all contain extra sugars, or worse – sweeteners, flavors and some other bunch of chemical stuff, which your body doesn’t need.

In order to achieve any weight loss or weight maintenance, you need fresh fruits and vegetables for your smoothies, or frozen ones. Canned are also good, but pay attention on labels and watch out for extra unnecessary sugars and sweeteners. You also need plain milk and yogurt, which of course should be low fat. Water and ice are perfect for the cold smoothie drinks.

Having all of the above in mind, let’s make some low calorie smoothie recipes:

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Calories: 290
Prep time: 5 min
Serving: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Strawberries, halved
  • 1 Banana (medium size)
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1 scoop of Protein Powder
  • Ice

Preparation:
Cut banana in half and blend all ingredients, except ice, in a blender until smooth. Add ice; blend again until the drink gets perfectly smooth. Serve immediately.

Variation:
If you love spinach, you could add some: 1 bunch of spinach will add 80 more calories; but 5 spinach leaves will add only 10 more calories, so you’d be at the edge of 300 calorie limit.

Mango Smoothie

Calories: 275
Prep time: 5 min
Serving: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup Pineapple, fresh cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup Low fat Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup Fat free Milk
  • 1/2 tbsp of Honey
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger, ground

Preparation:
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. It’s as simple as that, but like all simple things – delicious as hell.

Variation:
Instead of milk and yogurt you can use 1/4 cup low fat dry milk powder + water equals 267 calorie smoothie.

Blueberry Smoothie

Calories: 277
Preparation time: 3 min
Serving: 1

Ingredients:

  • 6 tbsp Acai Pulp, frozen (50 g)
  • 1 cup Blueberries, frozen
  • 1/2 Banana (medium size)
  • 1/2 cup Low fat Milk
  • 1 tbsp of Honey
  • 1 cup Ice

Preparation:
Cut banana in half and blend all ingredients, except ice, in a blender until smooth. Add ice; blend again until the drink gets perfectly smooth. Serve immediately.

Kale Smoothie

Calories: 283
Preparation time: 5 min
Serving: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup Kale*, fresh and chopped
  • 1 Banana (medium size)
  • 1 cup Almond Milk, pure – unsweetened and unflavored
  • 1 tbsp Chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

* 1 1/2 fresh Kale equals 100 grams fresh or 200 grams frozen – you can use either one of them.
