Lists of foods you can eat
Fresh Fruits – all kinds of fresh fruits except for grapefruit.
Fresh Vegetables – all fresh vegetables except for corn. The best detox veggies are broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli sprouts, onions, garlic, artichokes, beets, red and green vegetables.
Rice – brown or basmati rice, rice cakes, rice crackers and rice pasta.
Other Grains – quinoa, amaranth, millet, and buckwheat can be used instead of rice.
Beans – kidney beans, pinto beans, mung beans, chickpeas and adzuki beans.
Nuts and Seeds – unsalted nuts, seeds and nut butters, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews and walnuts. Peanuts are not recommended.
Fish – you can eat poached, broiled or steamed fish in moderation.
Oil – extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO – the one used in Rachael Ray recipes)
Condiments – vegetable salt, sea salt, vinegar, naturally fermented soy sauce, all kinds of herbs or spices you have at hand in the kitchen, small amounts of honey.
Beverages – herbal teas with no caffeine, Green Tea, water, lemon water, natural fruit and vegetable juices, rice milk.
List of foods you must avoid
Sugar – table sugar and any mixtures containing sucrose, dextrose, corn syrup, brown sugar, turbinado. Artificial sweeteners are not recommended.
Dairy Products – milk, eggs, butter. Cheese in small amounts is allowed.
Wheat and products containing wheat
Gluten-containing grains – barley, oats, rye, spelt, kamut.
Corn
Caffeine – coffee, black tea, and other caffeine-containing drinks. Green tea, however, is allowed and should be enjoyed by regular coffee-drinkers.
You should also avoid – yeast, alcohol, food additives, chocolate, high-fat foods.
What is common for most detox diet plans is that you should drink lots of water – at least 8 glasses daily. Water is important for cleaning out your body from toxins and waste, so drink it whenever you feel thirst.
