Honey and Cinnamon for Weight Loss

As I promised in my previous post, in this one I will share with you an interesting fact, I found a few days ago, about cinnamon weight loss effect.

As you can see from my post title the cinnamon weight loss effect is combined with honey in a delicious mixture, which recipe I am just about to tell you:

Ingredients

  • half teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 cup of boiling water

Preparation

Mix the cinnamon and honey in the cup and make a paste. Add the boiling water and cover the cup for half an hour. Stir the mixture water and filter it. Wait until it cools enough for drinking and it’s ready.

“Serving” – I couldn’t think of a better word :)

Take one half of the drink before breakfast and the other half after dinner, before going to bed.

Weight loss success stories

People who have tried this amazing weight loss drink say that they have lost about 3 kg (6-7 lbs) for 1 week.

I know it sounds too good and easy to be true, but I do believe it really works. I will try it myself in the next couple of weeks, actually as soon as I supply myself with the necessary ingredients – cinnamon and honey. For now I got only the water :)

I promise to share my weight loss success story as a comment to this post.

Important Update

Due to the great interest in this topic and the numerous comments and emails I receive every day about how exactly to prepare and use the drink, I decided to write an update post. Here it is:

Does Honey and Cinnamon Drink Have Any Possible Side Effects

And I also would like to share with you one of the last comments (thanks to Michelle), so that anybody can read it. It pretty much sums up everything you need to know about the honey and cinnamon drink:

Just want to let you know I have been doing a lot of research of many sites. They say Not to add the honey while the liquid is hot. This will kill the effects of the honey.
Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon with 8oz of boiling water and let it cool for half an hour, then add the 1 tsp of honey. Stir well and drink 4 of the 8oz first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and the rest on an empty stomach before bed.
They also recommend pure raw unprocessed or uncooked honey. Again the heating process will kill the honey benefits.

Thanks Michelle!

I just began using the Honey-Cinnamon drink before breakfast and again at night just prior to bed time. I have noticed that I am constantly getting up to go to the bathroom during the night and am wondering if this drink is acting as a diauretic. Is this common?

    hi

Is it possible to make cinnamon water for say two cups first n then take only one cup n add honey to drink n then next time reheat the cinnamon water n then add honey. In that case the we r heating the cinnamon water without the honey every time. so the honey is not losing its effect as well as we get to drink the tea hot.

  9. lina says:

please HELP HELP Me i want the correct way on how to make this i have seen many ways that is on here but i want to know the correct way. is this the correct way?
    1. Use 1 part cinnamon to 2 parts raw honey. 1/2 tsp cinnamon to 1 tsp honey is recommended but can use more or less as long as in the ratio of 1 to 2. — so 1 tsp cinnamon to 2 tsp raw honey is ok too as an example.
    2. Boil 1 cup…that is 8 oz of water.
    3. Pour water over cinnamon and cover and let it steep for 1/2 hour..(30 minutes)
    4. Add honey now that it has cooled. Never add honey when it is hot as the heat will destroy the enzymes and other nutrients in the raw honey.
    5. Drink 1/2 of this directly before going to bed. The other 1/2 should be covered and refrigerated.
    6. In the morning drink the other half that you refirgerated…but do not re-heat it…drink it cold or at room temp only.
Do not add anything else to this recipe. No lemon, no lime, no vinegar. It is not necessary to drink it more time in a day…it is only effective on an empty stomach and primarily at night.

    OR this way?
    Ingredients

    half teaspoon of cinnamon powder
    1 teaspoon of honey
    1 cup of boiling water
    Preparation

Mix the cinnamon and honey in the cup and make a paste. Add the boiling water and cover the cup for half an hour. Stir the mixture water and filter it. Wait until it cools enough for drinking and it’s ready.

    OR IS THIS?
First you can’t boil the honey and cinnamon in the water at the same time, but you should use that kettle to boil the water alone. Here’s how I’m preparing the drink in the evening:

    1. I boil a tea cup of water in the microwave until it starts to babble
    2. At the same time I mix the cinnamon and honey in another cup and stir for about 1 min until it turns into paste
    3. Then I poor the boiling water into the cup with honey and cinnamon paste and stir until the honey dissolves
    4. Cover it for half an hour and then drink the half before go to bed

    OR IS IT THIS WAY
Just want to let you know I have been doing a lot of research of many sites.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 3 WAYS ON HERE WHICH IS THE CORRECT ONE? I DONT MEAN TO SOUND RUDE BUT I WANT ONE CORRECT WAY TO DO. WHEN I SEE SEVERAL DIFFERENT ANSWERS IT GETS ME CRAZY BECAUSE THOSE OF US THAT WANT TO TRY THIS OUT REALLY NEED THE CORRECT WAY HOW THE TEA IS MADE NOT AN INCORRECT WAY.
    PLEASE HELP ME OUT ASAP.

  10. anna says:

Do I have to mix the cinnamon and honey with water? Can I just mix a teaspoon of each honey and cinnamon and just eat it like that without the water? Please let me know. Thank you.

  11. Micci Kozma says:

    Lina,
please don’t get frustrated, i don’t think it’s an exact science. I think exact amounts of water or honey are not important, but that is just my belief. There probably is no one right way, but I would stress NOT to add boiling water to the honey. Just start trying it! Perhaps people have lost weight different methods. The important thing is to have the honey and cinnamon. I add green tea just for my own added benefit, as greet tea is good for weight loss as well (among other things) Good luck!

  12. Sonnie says:

Galia, please tell me will this still work if I don’t use honey.

So just hot water and half tsp of cinnamom…Please let me know asap…can’t wait to start!!

  13. marielen says:

i use honey and cinnamon and found it works very well to keep your cravings at bay. i boil water and pour a little over 1 cup over 1/2 tsp of cinnamon then steep for 30 minutes. I then drain the cinnamon paste to make 1 cup of cinnamon water and i refrigerate (i tolerate the taste better this way). At bedtime I drink 1/2 c with 1/2 tsp raw honey (straight from spoon). And do the same in a.m. 30 minutes before eating. I’ve lost 20 pounds so far.

  14. marielen says:

i believe it’s important to add that the drink alone probably wouldn’t do much for weight loss. I watch my caloric intake and excercise regularly. the drink helps control my cravings and does a good job of decreasing my appetite which makes it easier for me to stick to my diet. it really does work in conjunction with diet and excercise.

  15. Abdul Sami says:

I am not able to find RAW HONEY locally. Has any one got results with processed honey here? I believe with processed one results are not as effective as raw one. Just want to know if processed one doesn’t work at all.

  16. Di says:

    Can I use pure honey?

  17. marielen says:

i found better results with raw unprocessed honey. Hard to find unless you go to a health store. I ordered mine online through amazon groceries and bought two jars, so I’m good for a good while!

  18. DrSarah says:

The only way to ensure that you lose weight is to take exercise 2-3 times per week for at least 20 minutes, this could be a brisk walk or a light class and to combine this with a healthy diet. Cut out snacks, sauces, refined sugar and replace white carbohydrates with wholemeal alternatives. if this is not working, consult a physician to review your options. Sorry to rain on your parade ladies, but this honey and cinammon drink has no scientifically proven weight loss results or health benefits. In fact, the honey in the drink may contribute to weight gain if it is taken in large quatities as it is pure sugar; containing around 30 calories in each 5ml. Regular exercise and a diet which is high in unprocessed and raw vegetables will be beneficial for health and will definitely. There are no easy, quick and healthy shortcuts to weight loss.

  19. Abdul Sami says:

Does cassia produce any results or not? or only genuine cinnamon is required?

  20. Ginette says:

Hi my name is Ginette and I started the Cinnamon and Honey drink about a week or so ago twice a day and I also take Apple Cider Vinegar Tablets 500mg.,3 times a day with my meals which are also good for losing weight. So far I have lost 8 pounds and I’m looking forward to losing more.

Hey, ok, I get it, I guess – but does this really work?

  24. Jennifer Bazemore says:

I tried this over the weekend and woke up each morning with mouth sores and swelling of the inside of my mouth. Anyone else experienced this? Is this an allergic reaction to cinnamon?

  25. Rita says:

Can I just make a paste of honey (1 teaspoon) one lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and eat it. Will it help me in loosing weight. Please advise

  26. priyanka says:

  27. Amber says:

Am I making this wrong or is it suppose to be thick and nasty? I guess I was under the assumption that it was suppose to look kind of like tea.

  28. Ruati tlau says:

Tried the cinnamon and honey drink for a week now and discovered my flat belly. Amazingly, my pimples has also reduced to a certain extent.Just becos’ you drink this drink doesn’t mean that you have the license the binge snacks or food. Do keep a close watch on what you are eating. Loosing wieght is never easy. You need to sacrifice a lot of things to look good.

  29. cinnamon says:

I’ve been reading about this cinnamon and honey idea. I can’t help but feel it is just another useless fad (there just aren’t a lot of long term results around). I haven’t tried it (perhaps I will try it and post again in the future to tell you that it is in fact a miracle weight loss tea?!). Seriously though, if it were that easy to lose weight, wouldn’t pharmaceutical companies have been onto it long before now? They’re both yummy (and I know how much I love a drop of cinnamon essential oil in the bathtub), but Cinnamon is a strong irritant and I’m not sure that large amount of cinnamon every day is healthy (I also read another blog that mentioned someone got really ill each time she drank it).

  30. Deb says:

This only works if ou use active honey and that is honey with active enzymes. Any form of heat will destroy the enzymes that do the work for you. So I mix like this:

    1. 2 teaspoons cinnamon mixed to paste with a little boiling water.
    2. Leave to cool.
    3. Mix in 2 teaspoons of honey and mix with enough cold water to make up 1 cup.
    4. Drink half 30 mins before breakfast in the morning and the other half before bed at night. Yum it tastes wonderful.

    Works well

  31. Linda says:

why do you have to mix with water. why not just use 1/2 teaspoon honey and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon mix well and eat it. do this morning and night

Cinnamon and Honey formula for weight loss:

This works for most people. Inches are lost before any measurement on the scales. This program will cause significant inches lost…but you will reach a plateau and may not lose anymore. This is because the cinnamon and honey cause a cleansing effect in the digestive tract and cleans out parasites and other fungus and bacteria that slow down the digestion…causing a toxic build up. (Lowers pH) Once this is all cleaned out then you will most likely have the weight loss slow down.

Other side effects from a cleansing can occur because of toxins being released…if this occurs, cut back on how much you use or take a break.

Additionally people report increased energy, more sex drive, and feeling happier/mood enhancer.

  34. Cheryl says:

There have been numerous studies done, that have determined that cinnamon has beneficial effects to the human body.

Cinnamon does not only taste good, it also contains many health benefits such as: Anti-Clotting and Anti-Microbial actions, Blood Sugar Control, it boosts Brain Function, it’s Calcium and Fiber protect against Heart Disease and improve Colon Health, among other things.

Cinnamon’s essential oils also qualify it as an “anti-microbial” food, and cinnamon has been studied for its ability to help stop the growth of bacteria as well as fungi, including the commonly problematic yeast Candida. In laboratory tests, growth of yeasts that were resistant to the commonly used anti-fungal medication fluconazole was often (though not always) stopped by cinnamon extracts.

I do not know if I agree that putting honey with it has any weight loss benefits to the body, however, when I use honey it increases my desire to ingest more sugar. Honey is pure sugar and can, have an opposite effect. Instead put cinnamon into a protein shake, or sprinkle cinnamon on oatmeal. There are alot of other ways to get the benefits from cinnamon without all of that sugar.

Also, a healthy immune system can contribute to a consider amount of healthy natural weight loss.

  36. DeWayne says:

cinnamon is an antimicrobial and if you use to much as I did, 2 to 3 tsp of ground cinnamon a day it can kill the natural flora or microbes in you GI tract as it did mine; I spent three days of living hell with the worst diarrhea you can imagine, I lost seven pounds in 24 hours but that is not the way to loose weight; I am still suffering from the side effects of dehydration; that being dizziness, weakness, upset stomach and moore. So be careful what you put in your stomach.

  37. Perry McCarney says:

From the posts I’ve read, some people have had success while others have not. As I was unable to find an article providing suitable information on how to use a cinnamon and honey tea effectively, nor explaining why it can work, I did some research into its properties to discover this for myself.

For anyone interested, I have written an article explaining how it works and how to use it effectively that can be read at:

    Hi all

I have been giving this a try for two weeks now and have not have had any success at all

Wondering what is the average time of losing weight? And if the one’s who are losing weight — are they also do other weight loss techniques along with it — like increasing their exercise routine, eating less carbs, fat etc.. to help speed the weight loss process?

I would like to know if you can use the cinnamon and honey for different things ie: weight loss and cholesterol and infections all at the same time?

  40. Rick says:

I think that Bernadette (July 2007) said it all when she suggested “YOU ALSO NEED TO CHANGE YOUR EAT HABITS STOP THE SODA AND CANDY. EAT AND DRINK HEALTH FOOD.” Perhaps if you add a little exercise to that and you will not have to take cinnamon and honey.

  41. sunaina says:
