Honey and Cinnamon for Weight Loss

As I promised in my previous post, in this one I will share with you an interesting fact, I found a few days ago, about cinnamon weight loss effect.

As you can see from my post title the cinnamon weight loss effect is combined with honey in a delicious mixture, which recipe I am just about to tell you:

Advertisements

Ingredients

  • half teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 cup of boiling water

Preparation

Mix the cinnamon and honey in the cup and make a paste. Add the boiling water and cover the cup for half an hour. Stir the mixture water and filter it. Wait until it cools enough for drinking and it’s ready.

“Serving” – I couldn’t think of a better word :)

Take one half of the drink before breakfast and the other half after dinner, before going to bed.

Weight loss success stories

People who have tried this amazing weight loss drink say that they have lost about 3 kg (6-7 lbs) for 1 week.

I know it sounds too good and easy to be true, but I do believe it really works. I will try it myself in the next couple of weeks, actually as soon as I supply myself with the necessary ingredients – cinnamon and honey. For now I got only the water :)

I promise to share my weight loss success story as a comment to this post.

Important Update

Due to the great interest in this topic and the numerous comments and emails I receive every day about how exactly to prepare and use the drink, I decided to write an update post. Here it is:

Does Honey and Cinnamon Drink Have Any Possible Side Effects

And I also would like to share with you one of the last comments (thanks to Michelle), so that anybody can read it. It pretty much sums up everything you need to know about the honey and cinnamon drink:

Just want to let you know I have been doing a lot of research of many sites. They say Not to add the honey while the liquid is hot. This will kill the effects of the honey.
Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon with 8oz of boiling water and let it cool for half an hour, then add the 1 tsp of honey. Stir well and drink 4 of the 8oz first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and the rest on an empty stomach before bed.
They also recommend pure raw unprocessed or uncooked honey. Again the heating process will kill the honey benefits.

Thanks Michelle!

    Hallo Galia Ivanova
Nice to see Your messages after a long time. I hope you will clear my doubts. I took this cinnamon and honey mixture for two months but no change in my weight though i followed the procedure as told by you. I am unhappy about it. If I take ceylon cinnamon will it be effective and is it necessary to get unpasteurized honey. because we get only pure honey here.

    Thank you

  4. Andrea says:

Hi Galia, I took this mixture for a month and lost 7 kgs. then stopped taking the mixture for about 2 months. I have not put on the weight. But if I start taking the mixture again will I loose anymore weight.

    Please advise

  5. parul says:

    hello,
I’ve been taking this drink since last 1 month and i’ve gained 7m\kgs.

  6. June says:

hey Galia, i just was wondering does it matter what kind of honey to get since there are soo much varieties?

  7. Karen says:

I started this drink a little over a week ago. This past Sunday, Monday & Tuesday I felt as if my belly would explode. It was a terrible pain. I did not take it Mon., Tues., & Wed. but did Thursday morning and I felt my stomach expanding again. Is this something that needs to happen before I start losing? My husband has been drinking with me but does not feel the same way and I can see in his neck, face & chest that he is losing. Why would I be expanding?

  8. Elizabeth says:

    Heyy Galia,
i was just wondering how much does a one cup need to be?
like a litre? or like 500ml? or even 250ml?
because when you say a cup of boiling water, i just wanna get this straight
since i really really want to lose weight over the summer.

  9. Delima says:

Hey Galia, It is ok for diabetes patient to drink this mixture.

  10. Esther says:

    Hey Galia,
i just read a comment that said that the person gained weight after stopping with this weight loss method…
so i was just wondering is there any way to prevent that from happening?
like would weaning myself off of the drink help?

  11. kali says:

    hi Karen,

I had this stomach expanding problem. I used to feel fatigued in the morning when I wake up before honey + cinnamon mix drink.
This drink gave me energy in the mornings, so I did not want to stop it.
Then I started taking yogurt with dinner, to control my expanding stomach. I think that is working. Now it is better.

Also I have noticed that if you do light exercise , like walking , you lose weight much faster than before with this drink.
Also my skin has a glow, earlier it was dry.

  12. Jim says:

FYI…you need to use raw, unpasturized honey. If the lable doesn’t say Raw then it’s probably been pasturized. Pasturization destroys the enzymes in the honey and without the enzymes, the diet won’t work. Putting raw honey in hot water can destroy the enzymes as well. So, get raw honey, add it and the cinnamon to lukewarm water and enjoy.

  13. Karen says:

    Thank you, Kali.

I do not want to stop drinking it. I do see some great results minus the expanding stomach. My husband lost approx. 15 pounds on this while I have been trying to adjust. I’ll try adding yogurt to dinner. And walking more won’t hurt either.

    Thanks Again,
    Karen

Cinnamon and Honey formula for weight loss:
This should be prepared at night before going to bed.

    1. Use 1 part cinnamon to 2 parts raw honey. 1/2 tsp cinnamon to 1 tsp honey is recommended but can use more or less as long as in the ratio of 1 to 2. — so 1 tsp cinnamon to 2 tsp raw honey is ok too as an example.

    2. Boil 1 cup…that is 8 oz of water.

    3. Pour water over cinnamon and cover and let it steep for 1/2 hour..(30 minutes)

    4. Add honey now that it has cooled. Never add honey when it is hot as the heat will destroy the enzymes and other nutrients in the raw honey.

    5. Drink 1/2 of this directly before going to bed. The other 1/2 should be covered and refrigerated.

    6. In the morning drink the other half that you refirgerated…but do not re-heat it…drink it cold or at room temp only.

Do not add anything else to this recipe. No lemon, no lime, no vinegar. It is not necessary to drink it more time in a day…it is only effective on an empty stomach and primarily at night.

This works for most people. Inches are lost before any measurement on the scales. This program will cause significant inches lost…but you will reach a plateau and may not lose anymore. This is because the cinnamon and honey cause a cleansing effect in the digestive tract and cleans out parasites and other fungus and bacteria that slow down the digestion…causing a toxic build up. (Lowers pH) Once this is all cleaned out then you will most likely have the weight loss slow down.

Other side effects from a cleansing can occur because of toxins being released…if this occurs, cut back on how much you use or take a break.

Additionally people report increased energy, more sex drive, and feeling happier/mood enhancer.

    Hi,
i have been reading about the cinamon as the magic spice for weight loss. ONe imp question, since i am not allowed any sweeteners due to diabetes, will the cinamon work on its own???

    HI
I AM DIABETIC AND I HAVE A QUESTION THAT CINNAMON TEA CAN REDUCE WEIGHT WITHOUT HONEY BCOZ IT IS DOING GOOD FOR MY DIABETIES BUT NOT TO MY WEIGHT LOSE?DOES IT REDUCES WEIGHT WITHOUT HONEY OR NOT?PLZ REPLY ME I AM WAITING ANXIOUSLY

  17. Hi to all diabetics who are interested if they can take honey and cinnamon drink.

As I am not a doctor, I cannot advise you to take or not to the drink. You must consult your doctor treating you for diabetes if honey is good for you to take it twice a day.

I know the cinnamon is good for diabetics and the honey (raw) is better for diabetics than white sugar. Even if the honey requires lower levels of insulin compared to regular white sugar and does not raise blood sugar levels as rapidly as white sugar, it is essential for all diabetics to consult with their doctor prior starting to take honey on their own.
It is important that every diabetic ask their doctor how much honey a day is OK.

  18. Sony says:

After reading those wondeful comments and suggestions about cinnamon & honey tea, I too wanted to try out that!!
But, am not feeling comfortable with the recipe (1/2tsp. cinnamon powder + 1tsp. honey), after trying this out for 4-5 days.. Am having a kind of sick feeling!
Dont feel like having food properly. And the whole day, I will be feeling some kind of guidiness!

I am taking the tea daily twice, early morn (30mins before brakfast) & at night.

Am using the following method ::

    (

    6. In the morning drink the other half that you refirgerated…but do not re-heat it…drink it cold or at room temp only
    )

Is this expected during intial few days??

    Or should I quit ??

    Please suggest.

  19. c geethasree says:

    Dear Galia Ivanova,
Can you please clear my doubt. Is it necessary to use only raw honey? if we use processed honey will it be effective or not as we find it difficult to get raw honey near our place.
And can cinnamon drink can be taken without adding honey?

  20. Kay Hubbard says:

After reviewing all the responses above,it seems a lot want to change the recipe. I suggest everyone just follow the program, otherwise may affect the outcome. I’m starting tonight so will check back with you. Wish me luck. Kay

    Hi Weight losers
Can any one say if this mixture will work for people with stress related problems. Because of stress you do put lot of weight and you sugar level varies. some time it is low or some times it is high. Since previous messages tells that this mixture lowers the sugsr level. Or does this give a good balance of sugar level.
    Please reply. Thankyou.

  23. Elzbeth says:

Some months ago I started eating instant oatmeal with one teaspoon of Splenda added to it and powdered cinnamon. I have eaten this every morning from Monday-Friday for a couple of months now. I work full time and this is an easy breakfast option for me. I started noticing that I started loosing weight and couldn’t figure out why. I have now lost close to 24 pounds and just until recently, did I realize that it was probably the cinnamon that was aiding in my weight loss. I do not add honey as posted on this blog. All I add is 1 package of instant oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of splenda, and about 2 Tablespoons of cinnamon and add hot water to the oatmeal. I do not add milk to this, only water. (I do not measure the cinnamon, but do put plenty of it in the oatmeal).

  24. STANLEY says:

Dear, I am taking 02 teaspons Honey + 01 teaspone Cinnamon Powder (without filter)with luke warm water since last 02 morning and I’m feeling little uneasy during day hours…right when water is hot, I add Honey + Cinnamon Powder and drink it right there, Is it correct. Why I’m feeling uneasy. guide me.

  25. ray says:

I boil only the cinamon and add honey after filtered . Since I use raw local honey the polen and propolis in it is better for you .

  27. Sharon says:

Reena pls can u tell me what is water therapy? I also want to reduce fast.

  28. JD says:

Just an FYI, you will find this process will work better if you add the cinnamon to the boiling water first by itself, letting it steep for a 20 minutes and then adding the honey. Adding the honey after the water has cooled will keep all the active ingredients from being degraded or destroyed altogether – honey should never be boiled, cooked or baked with as some toxic substances can be created. At the very least, you will lower the potency of the honey by heating it (hence, unpasteurized honey is better than pasteurized).

  29. Michaela says:

I’m a little confused about the 1/2 cup before bed how does this get heated???
    MICROWAVE???

  30. jeany says:

    Hi Michaela,

It depends on when you prepare the drink:

    1. If you make it in the morning then you will drink it warm in the morning and cold in the evening (I do not recommend to heat it in the microwave because of the honey in it).

    2. If you make it in the evening (like I do) then you will drink it warm in before bed and cold in the morning. I am in such a hurry in the morning that I don’t care if it’s warm or cold.

  31. Paul says:

Question, can this mixture be stored in a refrigerator if a big batch is made? Thank you.

  32. Rhonda says:

I had heard about this diet from another friend. I did research on using the right cinnamon and the correct honey. I now have both and I’m using them. While using the other cinnamon and honey, I did lose 3 pounds. I hope it still continues.

  33. Dapo Ademosu says:

    Hi Galia,

While I have been having fun with your posts for a new solution to my weight problem, I wish to ask: is it normal for the mixture of cooling Cinnamon and Honey to appear slimy just before I Sieve/strain it. You know, after waiting for 30 minutes for it to cool down.

I just want to know just to be sure I am not missing out anything.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

    ‘Dapo.

  34. Jayne says:

just an FYI, in order for this to work, you have to use raw, unpasteurized honey. Supermarket bought honey will not work.
You can get the raw honey at any natural food store (i.e. whole foods, wegmans)

  35. Cindy says:

    Jayne,

Can you tell me if you know if Henry’s sells unpasteurized honey and do you also know where to get Ceylon cinnamon? I need to loose 15 lbs and I’ve heard about apple cide vinegar and honey and water, but the taste is awful.

    Thanks

  36. Teddy says:

Wow, after reading this, I feel inspired to try it.
Already have the cinnamon + hot water mixture cooling down on the table, can’t wait to add honey and drink it!! :D

I will post results (if any, though [cross fingers]) in the weeks to come. :)

    Hey,
Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder.if taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured.
when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week out of the 200 people so treated practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain

  41. Vesna says:

Also, I have to say my skin has significanty improved. Ive been taking the mixture for about nine days, and though I havent lost any weight, my skin is great. I actually have normal skin now, can u believe it. I have always had oily skin (Im 28 now), and nothing has ever worked. And now cinnamon?! Most pleasant scent on the planet? My favourite thing above everything else? What an irony.

  44. Teresa says:

    Hi everyone,
I ran across this forum when I was researching the amount of honey and cinnamon to use. I got an email with the info that it is good for weight loss and have been drinking it for 2 days now. I LOVE cinnamon and well who doesn’t love honey? :) Anyway, I was skimming thru the posts here and wow there are a lot of them. I am a nurse and have studied natural health and wellness for years. I have told many people with diabetes about the blood sugar leveling factor in cinnamon and it has always seemed to help them. Also since cinnamon is a metabolic stimulator it makes sense it would work for weight loss. I just found out that it might also work for high cholesterol. I don’t know much on those levels about honey. I do know that it is a germ fighter and very good for people with allergies and other immune deficiency problems. But you do have to buy the raw stuff definitely not the processed stuff you get at most grocery stores.
I wish everyone here luck and me too :) BTW, I think that the cinnamon and honey in oatmeal would also work just fine.
I hope to hear great results from everyone here.
