Weight Loss Camps for Adults

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Long-term weight Loss – myth or reality?

I am sorry to admit but there is a dismal track record of weight loss camps as a whole – half of the campers return next year. Well, some of them come for the same weight problems and some, mostly kids, come because they want to spend just another great summer with their last year’s friends. Too expensive in both cases, if you ask me.

Is too bad for people who come back again and again to the weight loss camp because of an unsuccessful maintained weight loss during the year. Finally they will come up with the idea that either there is something wrong with them and will eventually stop trying to lose weight, or that the weight loss camp is not working the way it has pledged to work for all – to lose weight and keep it off.

Weight loss camps – how do they work?

In fact weight loss camps for adults, kids or teens work in two directions: first limit calories consumed through the portion controlled meals, and second increase caloric and fat expenditure through increased activity – fitness, exercises, trips, games and so on. Of course this can lead to a short-term weight loss.

Unfortunately this approach fails to teach young people, and especially kids and teens, how to develop their most powerful inner defined skill called self-monitoring, which can help anyone successfully maintain long-term weight loss.

Weight-loss camp counselors

Though most weight loss camps for adults do provide counseling, usually in groups, it is not as efficient for the individual, as it could be the individual approach to each person’s problem.

Here is the big problem of most weight loss camps for adults – they fail to address the fundamental behavioral and emotional issues – the way overweight people look in their own eyes and the way they accept their own bodies – this is a severe body and mind struggle.

Weight loss camp after-care weight loss program

When the weight loss camp is over and you come back home and start school, college or work again, you may not have so much time to spend in the gym exercising or doing even a small part of the things you were doing in the weight loss camp.

As for your calorie controlled meals and snacks at home – it’s not as easy as it may seem according to the monthly nutrition booklet, newsletter or nutritionist book, which you’ll be receiving from your weight loss camp, and which sole purpose is to aid in your weight maintaining process.

In conclusion

The answer to the question in the beginning of my post: “Weight loss camps’ long-term weight loss – is it a myth or reality?” is rather myth than reality. And although weight loss camps are an easy solution to any weight loss problems, they are not the best solution.

There is something I’d like to ask you – can you share your experience with GreenTea300 here with us.

P.P. Unfortunately the GreenTea300 weight loss system is no longer available for quite some time now. Everybody is looking for the new alternative. I think I found it…

It’s called Avatrim – it’s a dietary supplement that harvests the power of green tea.

Have You Tried Honey and Cinnamon for Weight Loss?

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

If you have tried honey and cinnamon drink, please share your experience here. I’ll appreciate that very much.

I am curious to know is it effective for you?

How long have you been using honey and cinnamon, and what results you have by now?

I heard from my mom this weekend and she told me she been using it for about one week and has lost about 4 pounds already. She has a lot more to go to her goal weight, but she is very determined.

I will also try the honey and cinnamon drink as soon as I supply myself with honey. I already got the cinnamon and water :)

Yours truly,

Honey and Cinnamon for Weight Loss

Monday, May 1st, 2006

As I promised in my previous post, in this one I will share with you an interesting fact, I found a few days ago, about cinnamon weight loss effect.

As you can see from my post title the cinnamon weight loss effect is combined with honey in a delicious mixture, which recipe I am just about to tell you:

Advertisements

Ingredients

  • half teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 cup of boiling water

Preparation

Mix the cinnamon and honey in the cup and make a paste. Add the boiling water and cover the cup for half an hour. Stir the mixture water and filter it. Wait until it cools enough for drinking and it’s ready.

“Serving” – I couldn’t think of a better word :)

Take one half of the drink before breakfast and the other half after dinner, before going to bed.

Weight loss success stories

People who have tried this amazing weight loss drink say that they have lost about 3 kg (6-7 lbs) for 1 week.

I know it sounds too good and easy to be true, but I do believe it really works. I will try it myself in the next couple of weeks, actually as soon as I supply myself with the necessary ingredients – cinnamon and honey. For now I got only the water :)

I promise to share my weight loss success story as a comment to this post.

Important Update

Due to the great interest in this topic and the numerous comments and emails I receive every day about how exactly to prepare and use the drink, I decided to write an update post. Here it is:

Does Honey and Cinnamon Drink Have Any Possible Side Effects

And I also would like to share with you one of the last comments (thanks to Michelle), so that anybody can read it. It pretty much sums up everything you need to know about the honey and cinnamon drink:

Just want to let you know I have been doing a lot of research of many sites. They say Not to add the honey while the liquid is hot. This will kill the effects of the honey.
Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon with 8oz of boiling water and let it cool for half an hour, then add the 1 tsp of honey. Stir well and drink 4 of the 8oz first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and the rest on an empty stomach before bed.
They also recommend pure raw unprocessed or uncooked honey. Again the heating process will kill the honey benefits.

Thanks Michelle!

My 7th day of the 1 week detox diet

Monday, April 10th, 2006

Hello again! Yesterday was my seventh day of the 1 week detox diet – Sunday April 9, 2006.

Yesterday morning I weighed 58 kg ~ 128 lbs. – that means I have lost 3 kg = 6.5 lbs for six days.

My diet menu for this day was the menu I was dreaming about since the beginning of the diet. It was as follows:

Breakfast – 1 slice of whole grain bread with butter, 30 g ~ 1 oz of cheese and 1 tomato; I sliced the tomato with a few onion rings into a small salad. As usual I also added a cup of coffee. It was a good start for my busy day.

My 6th day of the 1 week detox diet

Monday, April 10th, 2006

Hello! I am sorry I missed my post yesterday, but I had lots of work around the house and in the garden. My weekend was really very busy and I had no time to blog.

Today is Monday and I am here to tell you about my sixth day of the One week detox dietSaturday April 8, 2006.

As I said in my previous post the menu for Saturday was vegetables about 1 kg = 2.2 pounds. The diet allows you to boil the one half of the vegetables and the other half to eat raw.

My 5th day of the 1 week detox diet

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

Hello again! Yesterday was my fifth day of the 1 week detox diet plan – Friday April 7, 2006.

My current weight is 59 kg = 130 lbs. For the first four day of my diet I have already lost 2 kg and have more energy than ever.

Four day are passed – the hardest days of the diet. From now till Sunday I’ll be having breakfast everyday and far more delicious foods to eat.

My breakfast was very substantial – 1 slice of whole grain bread with butter and one boiled egg. I also added as usual 1 cup of coffee without sugar.

My 4th day of the 1 week detox diet

Friday, April 7th, 2006

Yesterday was my fourth day of the 1 week detox diet plan – Thursday April 6, 2006.

After the last two days of eating potatoes and rice, finally I got something tasty to eat – fruits. The fourth day of the 1 week detox diet you should eat about 1.5 kg = 3.3 lbs of fruits.

I had small breakfast of 1 slice of whole grain bread and 100 g of cheese, 1 apple and 1 cup of coffee without sugar.

Mmm, I liked the breakfast very much. I think I was getting used to this low fat diet plan. I even started to like my coffee without sugar :)

My 3rd day of the 1 week detox diet

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

Hello, it’s me again!

Yesterday was my third day of the 1 week detox diet plan – Wednesday April 5, 2006.

My current weight is 60 kg ~ 132 lbs. and that means I’ve lost 1 kg since the beginning of my diet.

Actually, that was expected, because I’m doing this diet for second time. So far it’s working just the way it should – to lose 0.5 kg a day for the first couple of days.

I hope that by the end of the week I will lose about 3.5 to 4 kg ~ 8 to 9 lbs. at the very least.

My 2nd day of the 1 week detox diet

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

Yesterday was my second day of the 1 week detox diet – Tuesday April 4, 2006.

I didn’t weigh myself because I don’t have so precision scale to register the 1 pound ~ 0.5 kg off my weight. I’ll weigh myself tomorrow and let’s hope I’ll be 2 lbs. off.

The purpose of the 1 week detox diet is to cleanse out your body by eating one kind of food a day for 7 days. The second day you should eat about 750 g = 1.65 pounds of boiled potatoes with jackets, which you must peel before eating. Well, that is the easy part.
