Probably you are asking yourself why detox diets are so popular lately. Actually detox diets are the last craze in dieting.

There are zillions of toxins affecting your way of life everyday by making you feel some very unpleasant symptoms, such as:

  • weight gain
  • low energy
  • feelings of fatigue and weakness
  • inability to sleep soundly
  • sore muscles and skin
  • joint pains
  • headaches
  • premenstrual syndrome
  • anxiety and irritability

I can’t list all the symptoms, but I can assure you that toxins are all around you – in food and food additives, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, pesticides etc.

There are toxins formed during the metabolic processes in your body that can harm your body cells and tissues functioning. Usually your body eliminates most toxins and the rest are stored within body fat.

Additional factors that play a role in toxin storage are stress and sedentary lifestyle, use of prescription drugs, increased consumption of fast foods, which are high in saturated fats, as well as excessive use of salt and sugar.

If you have any of the symptoms I listed above and you feel a little bit scared – don’t worry. If you are reading this, then it means you have strong will and desire, which are the most important things you need to start a detox diet.

Detox Diet – why haven’t you started?

Detox DietIf you haven’t started a detox diet yet, it’s maybe because you’ve heard about people suffering bad headaches, nausea and vomiting while detoxifying. It’s a normal body reaction while detoxifying too quickly, i.e. toxins are being released faster then your body can eliminate them.

These symptoms can be easily minimized if you detoxify more often, drink lots of clean water and do minimal physical activity. As soon as toxins are eliminated and excreted, your health will be restored. If these symptoms persist, then you should consult your doctor.

Another reason for not starting a detox diet is probably the large number of different detox diets available on the net, each one claiming to be the best. Obviously it’s hard to choose a detox diet if you haven’t done this before.

  1. I don’t understand this. If we truly had ‘toxins’ in our bodies, we would be dead. The substances mentioned here may well have negative impacts of general health, but they’re not toxins.
