What is Protein Shake Diet?

It is a meal replacement plan by its origin. Protein shake dieters consume only shakes and other drinks (made from protein powders) and eat only meal replacement products such as protein bars, puddings, snacks, desserts, soups, etc.
Even sugar free, low carb, gluten free, bakery foods are available in packed portions of high protein powders and ready-to-cook foods.

For more lazy dieters there are on-the-go meals – mostly bars and crunches, but also puffs (cheese), sticks (cinnamon pretzel) and different bites (BBQ and pizza flavours) are also available…

Despite the fact that dieters are not allowed to consume regular meals they won’t be making any compromises with taste as the portioned protein packets offer refined taste equal to the delicious home made dishes. It’s true these meal replacements are just powders or ready-to-cook foods mixed either with hot or cold water, or slim milk, or other beverages.

And the question pops up – how delicious such meal replacement mixture could be?

Well, once you prepare the mixture you don’t just drink it (shakes are exception) or eat it. No. You either get it baked, fried, heated, microwaved or some other way cooked. Protein Shake diet is different – how?

  • It does not have fixed period of time to keep it. You can design it to fit your personal needs and stick to it as long as you reach your weight loss goal.
  • You can start Protein Shake diet by drinking only protein shakes all day for at least one week. You can still add different fresh vegetables to your shakes but that’s all – no sweets, no or low carbs, no regular meals. Only water and other low or no carbohydrate drinks. After the first week you can start gradually add healthy meals to your menu.

  • Protein shake diet allows you to choose the shakes and meals you eat yourself. You design your personal menu of different meal replacement products considering their nutrients.
  • For example most protein shakes contain whey protein isolate, no fats (or insignificant amount), vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and sometimes fibers, carbohydrates and very little amounts of sugar. The calories are usually about 100 per serving.

  • You can’t overeat with these portion controlled meals and proper meal planning. Your body gets all the nutrients and energy it needs.>/li>

Protein shakes and weight loss

Drinking shakes and losing weight quickly go hand in hand. It’s very simple – they are portion controlled, packed nutritious powders that are easily mixed in a big cups, shaker or blender with water, skim milk of juice. As long as you don’t cheat (i.e. snacking regular meals in between protein shakes and later on in between meal replacement meals) and do regular exercising, you will start losing pounds from the very first week.

Exercising!!! Yes – you heard me right and you can’t skip it!

Work out at least 3 times a week. Nothing special and yet do not skip a training.

You can try squatting – 20 squats per series in 3 to 4 series. That’s great for legs.

With crunches you can aid burning belly fat and make your stomach flat. Again start at 20 crunches per series in 3 to 4 series and try to increase repetitions per series to as many as you can stand.

Protein shake diet is amazing, right?

It’s all about portion controlling, meal planning and proper exercising.

  • It doesn’t teach you healthy eating habits, although you’ll have plenty of time to consider what you’ve done wrong to gain weight in the past and how change it in the future.
  • Plan your future eating patterns well before you stop taking meal replacements and shakes.
  • Don’t stop exercising one you reach your desired weight loss goal.

My only problem that I can see with these types of shakes and all, is the simple fact that it fails to teach you how to eat properly, and fails to encourage exercise which are the two main things that are going to promote weight loss. What good is it to spend all this money on a product to lose weight that will be gained back once the diet has finished.

  3. This is easy to do. By the way these suggested shakes are great. Just add a small amount of stuff to the shake..

    Vanilla shake with spinach or spirillena

    Protein shake with one banana

    Protein shake with small 1.4 cup of oatmeal a wee bit of coffee

    Protein shake and oatmeal plus 1 table spoon of peanut butter

    you can be creative but dont put too much stuff. You dont want to take protein alone you could do damange to yourself.

    This is a Super great diet to do for one week, its amazing!!!

  4. I’ve just begun this protein diet regiment, and I have found it to be extremely satisfying. I have been 100+ lbs. over-weight for 15 years now. I have have tried almost everything our there with exceptions to weight-watchers, and other accountability programs that, well lets face it, don’t work. Since Dec. 2007 I have lost about 65 lbs. bringing me from 365 lbs. down to 300 lbs. I’ve done this starting at the heart of being unhealthy, with my colon. I purchased a colon cleanser and took it via the instructions and dropped 20 lbs. of clotted fecal matter in my digestive track.

    With a cleaner digestive and disposal system my body is now primed to lose weight through diet and exercise. So for 8 months now I have been slowly building up my endurance with light workouts at home, and managed to drop another 40 lbs.

    Now I’m getting to the harder part of losing weight, the last 50 – 70 lbs. I joined a local gym about a month ago and began serious weight resistance training (about 4 hours a week ) threw in some daily cardio and ab workouts. Trucking along for about a week when i started feeling sluggish, a friend suggested buying a protein supplement mix ( whey ; creatine ) and making myself a shake before I work out, and one more after I work out.

    I can’t describe the difference I feel now after 3 more weeks. My appetite is suppressed most of the day, and I have loads of energy to spare. I’m on track building lean muscle and burning fat all at the same time. It’s hard to judge progress by your weight once you begin weight resistance training, so I found an old pair of jeans that I’m dying to get back into and once every 2 weeks I slide them on to see how they fit.

    The protein shake diet really does work. I suggest it for anyone. Of course I also suggest that you find about an hour a day to exercise along with your diet regiment. This will also help increase your metabolism and help build lean muscle to burn fat even quicker. Be careful though. Don’t set goals you can’t obtain. Don’t start your diet or exercise plan trying to loose all the weight at once. Set small achievable goals for yourself, and take pictures. Just when you feel like your not accomplishing anything by exercising pull out the pics, and have a look at where you were and where you are.
    And remember:

    Phillipians 4 :16 – “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me!”

    My Plan:

    Shake/Recipe:1 scoop Protein mix (any flavor)
    2 oz. Soy Milk
    4 oz Water
    1/2 Cup any fruit
    Shake for breakfast – Workout 2 hours – Shake for lunch
    Dinner – 3 oz of chicken or tuna
    1/2 of Carrots

  6. I take 2 scoops of chocolate whey and mix it in a blender with 2 cups of skim milk, a cup of ice and a banana. They taste amazing and can really curve your apetite.. On any high protein diet remember to take in a lot of water. It helps with digestion and protein synthesis… I also would recomend this diet because it is easier on your liver and heart than other type low carb diets because Whey is partially digested..

    For the gentleman hitting a wall with your diet I recommend getting a fatburner, working out on an empty stomach in the morning and then drinking a 20 gram shake mixed with water about every 2 hrs.. Along with the shakes take in a good multi vitamin and make sure you are taking Calcium, Magnesium and CLA throughout the day. (They all help in metabolizing fat from your body into energy)… Take in some dry carbs like wheat toast, wheat or oat based cereals, or oatmeal.

  7. one of the benefits of protein shakes ive found is that, helps me to get into the routine of eating three times a day. Skipping meals slows the metabolism. And helps me get more protein in my diet.

  8. I did the protein shake diet around 10 years ago. It works great. The only problem is – like some of these posts have said, is being able to keep it off after you have finished (I kept it off for several years, until I started dating someone else and all we did was go out to eat). I lasted roughly 2-1/2 months on this diet and lost 35 pounds (from 160 to 125), but exercised like crazy and had a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch – then just a small meal like skinless chicken breast and some vegetables, and a multi-vitamin.

    I think that this is the more extreme way of dieting. If you want to do it right, you should follow what I did, but add small snacks (veggies or fruits) throughout the day to keep you not feeling hungry and to keep your metabolism going. I was using one scoop of protein powder instead of two to keep the calories even lower and adding more water.

    You really have to be willing to go on the diet and stick to it. It’s a lot of work, but effective. I’m starting the same diet with EAS protein shakes tomorrow and will alternate between salmon & boneless chicken breasts for dinner.

I found this diet in a magazine over the last 3 months at Winn Dixie Women’s World the big oversized one all colorful its under $2.00 they have the protein diet promising you will lose over 10 pounds in a few days. But it was all planned out all your meals. I tried to start it but kept putting the magazine down and never finding it again. I bought the Whey powder at Walmart for $13.98 they have chocolate, plain, strawberry or vanilla flavoring I got this far and these sheaks you can have up to 8 a day you mix them with water the whey and soy protein powder just one scoop. But you can have three meals too a day with them stuff like broiled skinned chicked one serving and mostly salad vegetables raw and fruits with some cheese. No oils or dressings were mentioned. I lost 85 pounds in less than 3 months 15 years ago but I jogged every single day 7 days a week rain snow or shine. I got lazy and gained it back I just cant do the run anymore. I started with coworkers doing that speed walking thing and we made up the diet stopped smoking reduced it to 3 cigs a day and bought ultra light merits and got used to this. Pita break and mustard with sliced turked every single day for lunch and a diet beer once a week. I did drop but at first it was all very hard I had the wrong shoes they were flat made my legs hurt when I bought soft running shoes I had it made and no pain. I wish I had used arms and wrist weights then the pounds would have come off faster. Sorry its so long but the diet sounded great and it works when I find it I will type it here

    I have one from a doctor chemical and its 2 weeks you drop 20 pounds without exercise but it works I have this if you want a copy of it leaves nothing to the imagination and is plane no oil or butter or salt that sort of thing.

    I like this idea but using a juicer too for fresh vegetables but this magazine had a whole diet you follow with the shakes. Running will do it burns cellulite mine was dust in the wind it was great but very hard to start running.

  10. I need to mention that 85 pounds was lost using Slim Fast Sheak in all flavors. This shake mix had at the time a suppressant that stops you from feeling hungry and it worked my proportions dropped drastically what it takes to be able to eat what you like and want. I guess my metabolism was off and slamming my feet down on concrete shocked my entire being into reality your going to do this and my body did but hot climates I believe are keeping the weight on it is more difficult in hot weather to lose After 3 months of drinking slim fast and following directions i could not eat for up to 3 to 4 days and be fine. But I drank liquids.

  11. If I eat enough protein with my meals, I don’t overeat and I am not ravenously hungry. It does not have to be a huge amount of protein, in fact the recommended serving size is 3-4 oz with lunch and dinner, and about 1 oz with snacks, 1-2 oz of protein with breakfast.
