The author of the diet Dr. Herman created it at 1970 and applied to his
patients at Scarsdale medical center almost 19 years.
In the diets are included low calories (about 1000) a day, low carbohydrates and fats. You can
lose one pound a day which classifies the diet as a fast weight loss diet.
When you lose
weight so fast it is proved that you mostly lose water but not fats. It is also hard to keep the
weight off, because your body can start to hold water again when you return to your normal way of life.
The other defect of the diet is that it is hard to keep it. It is very strong plan and most of the
people return to their normal eating, even eat more because most of the time they feel hungry as a
result of the strict dietary regimen.
It sounds a little bit scary right? So, leave it away ...
I am just kidding ... and what are the good news?
- You can eat until you are satisfied, but count your calories until they reach 850-1000.
- You get 43% proteins, 22.5% fats and 34.5 % carbohydrates which is one of the best propositions
for a diet.
- You can lose more than 20 pounds for 14 days if you strictly keep the plan.
Dr. Herman instructs his patients to eat the filet of the meat and to break away fatty foods. It is
always good to combine the diet with physical exercises to speed up the weight loss process. During the
diet you need to restrict the drinking of the water (3-4 gasses) no more. Lots of water flushes your system
and makes the weight come off faster.
During the years the Scarsdale diet has become more and more popular. It has been passed from hand
to hand, ear to ear.
Nowadays there are many similar diets with some improvements and this plan somehow
stayed in the past. |
