Summer is the perfect time of the year when all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables in season are available. Pick and choose as many green fruits and vegetables as possible, add them to your daily diet and you’ll thank me later smiley-face

What can green fruits and vegetables do for your health?

Here’s just a small list of fruits and vegetables:

  • romaine lettuce and green leaf lettuce
  • kale and cabbage
  • green beans and peas
  • cucumber and zucchini
  • green pepper
  • edamame
  • broccoli and asparagus
  • spinach
  • green apples
  • lime and kiwi
  • grapes (green of course)
  • honeydew melon
  • avocados and more …

Even their names sound so mouthwatering and really what can healthy greens do for you?

If you are still wondering, they have numerous, even tremendous number of, health benefits to support your overall health, as well as to do great serve to your weight loss purposes (fruit and vegetables cleanse properties are well known).

You are probably wondering how they act to support your weight loss?

Well, it’s the fruit and vegetable cleanse properties that help detoxify your body. Green fruit and vegetables smoothies contain substances (antioxidants – plenty of them BTW) that are capable to remove free radicals from your body hence no harm, no weight gain.

Introduce as many healthy greens as possible into your daily diet. Eat them fresh and cooked – either way is beneficial. As for which cooking practice is more delicious – it’s up to your personal preferences.

How many healthy greens to keep you and your children fit and strong?

These are the least amounts of fresh green fruits and vegetables per week – of course the more the better.

  • Children age 2-3 – ½ cup
  • Children age 4-8 – 1 cup
  • Adults and teens – 1 ½ to2 cups

I know it’s difficult, nearly impossible, to make a 3 year old to eat anything green, but where there’s a will, there’s a way:

Green smoothies are one alternative to eating fresh green fruits and vegetables, that almost no kid (age 2-8) likes. Despite the numerous benefits of fruits and vegetables (the kids just don’t care).
It’s simple – just blend the healthy greens and the kid will drink the green smoothie. I know smoothies and juices (even the green ones) are a lot more preferable and attractive to kids than plain fresh fruits and vegetables (as for the cooked ones – they hate them even more).
