As I promised, in my previous post about the benefits of cinnamon, in this one, about Honey and Cinnamon for Weight Loss, I will share with you an interesting fact, I found a few days ago, about the almost miraculous weight loss effect of cinnamon.
As you can see from the title the cinnamon for weight loss is combined with honey in a delicious mixture, which recipe I am just about to reveal:
Mix the cinnamon with the cup of boiling water (8 oz) and let it cool a little (15 to 30 minutes). Then add the honey and stir until it dissolves within the cinnamon tea. Stir the drink and filter it.
Take one half (4 oz) of the drink before breakfast (on an empty stomach) and the other half – a few hours after dinner, before going to bed.
If you make the drink in the evening – take the first half before going to bed, and put the rest in the fridge. First thing in the next morning – take it out of the fridge and let it stay at room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes before drinking it.
DO NOT WARM UP the honey and cinnamon drink in the microwave!
Weight loss success stories
People who have tried this amazing weight loss drink say that they have lost about 3 kg (6-7 lbs) for 1 week.
I know it sounds too good and easy to be true, but I do believe it really works. I will try it myself in the next couple of weeks, actually as soon as I supply myself with the necessary ingredients – cinnamon and honey. For now I got only the water 🙂

Just want to let you know I have been doing a lot of research of many sites. They say Not to add the honey while the liquid is hot. This will kill the effects of the honey.
Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon with 8 oz of boiling water and let it cool for half an hour, then add the 1 tsp of honey. Stir well and drink 4 of the 8oz first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and the rest on an empty stomach before bed.
They also recommend pure raw unprocessed or uncooked honey. Again the heating process will kill the honey benefits.

Actually you’ve said the answer yourself – when I said filter I meant to pour the mixture through a coffee filter into a new cup. That’s to avoid taking up the small undiluted particles from honey.

Hello Ally, I am glad you’ve started drinking the honey and cinnamon mixture, too.
It was very unpleasent the reason I started – it was about two weeks ago, when I was getting ready to go out with some friends, and when I tried to get into my old last summer jeans, I realized my tummy was no longer flat since I couldn’t button my jeans.
I started drinking the honey and cinnamon mixture the very same evening, and now two weeks later I feel much better. I have lost 2 kg already, and I will go on for at least three more weeks to lose another 3 kg.

Thanks for the questions, I’ll answer them immediately.
First you can’t boil the honey and cinnamon in the water at the same time, but you should use that kettle to boil the water alone. Here’s how I’m preparing the drink in the evening:
1. I boil a tea cup of water in the microwave until it starts to babble
2. At the same time I mix the cinnamon and honey in another cup and stir for about 1 min until it turns into paste
3. Then I poor the boiling water into the cup with honey and cinnamon paste and stir until the honey dissolves
4. Cover it for half an hour and then drink the half before go to bed
As for the amount you should drink – you should take only half cup in the morning and the other half in the evening, don’t take more than that.
And don’t take it during the day – it’s enough to take one cup a day, half in the morning and half in the evening. Don’t try to lose weight faster.
Honey and cinnamon drink will help you lose weight naturally and that takes some time, so you must be patient.

I’m starting the drink this morning. Is there a difference if i boil the cinnamon and honey in 1 c of water or using the kettle? Can i drink more than 1/2 cup in the morning and before i go to bed? Is it ok to drink it during the day??
What’s the easiest or best way to strain the drink? i find using the coffee filter takes a long time to strain as the cinnamon becomes somewhat of a jelly solution. i find that after straining it, it is less than 1 cup. do i leave it as is or can i add some water to compensate as both my boyfriend and i started taking the cinnamon and honey mixture today. I am using a coffee filter too. Yes, it’s true it takes some time and the cinnamon “jelly” with some water is kept in the filter.
DO NOT add cold water to the mixture if it is less than 1 cup.
You just need to boil a little more than 1 tea cup of water, and after pouring it through the filter, you’ll get a full tea cup of honey and cinnamon drink.

Out of curiosity… how does the cinnamon and honey mixture work??? I have read that it helps with weight loss and a whole lot of other conditions on quite a few websites but they do not say ‘HOW’ it works.
Can ground cinnamon be used instead of powdered ? I can’t find powdered cinnamon in the grocery stores. How much can be made at one time ?

As for the question: “How much can be made at one time?”, I assume you wanna know the amount of the honey and cinnamon drink that can be made at one time.
Well, I recommend you to start in the evening and make one cup of tea of honey and cinnamon drink at a time. Drink the first half before you go to bed and the other half in the morning. Follow the same procedure and prepare your drink in the evening again and so on…

You can refrigerate the honey and cinnamon drink only if you like – it’s not a must do, and don’t worry its taste won’t be spoiled if you leave it out of the fridge.
I assure you that it will be OK if you just leave it out covered on the kitchen bench or in the microwave for the night.

I see your point: you want to drink a full cup of honey and cinnamon at a time, instead the recommended half cup. And you hope for faster and better results…
However, I do not recommend you do that since the first day you start. Start with a half cup at a time. After one week try a full cup of drink for a couple of days. But if you feel anything strange such as stomach aches or tension- stop immediately and go back to only half cup at a time.
If you feel OK with a full cup of drink for a whole week then you can go on with a full cup of honey and cinnamon, but I recommend you to do a little breaks – for example one week full cup, one week half cup, then again one week full cup and one week half cup –keep that way until you reach your goal weight.
I haven’t mentioned it in my post above, but drinking honey and cinnamon is not an excuse for overeating or eating more than you used to eat before starting this drink.

Yes, you can lose weight. Try some extra activity if you can, too. Such as jogging or at least walking more. And remember to drink enough liquids with the psyllium husk mixture 🙂

However, the whole idea behind the cinnamon and honey drink is – when you drink it before bed it keeps you from storing fat during the night. The cinnamon is an antioxidant that is actually burning the fat.

Hi, I just wanted to post this link about cinammon. It says the reason why it works is because it lowers blood sugar levels, and yes – you can sprinkle it on your food throughout the day to help you lose weight, in addition to your drink in the am and pm. You can’t overdose on cinammon. And for those who feel it’s not working, try Agave Nectar in the drink instead of honey. It has a much lower GI and will not make your blood sugar rise the way honey will.

Actually, it is up to you if you want to filter the mixture. I tried once without filtering, but I didn’t like the cinnamon lees, because the cinnamon definitely does not get dissolved.

I have already answered to that question above, but I will say it again – the drink needs to brew like a tea, but instead of a couple of minutes like tea, the cinnamon and honey need half an hour.
Tried. Faithfully 3 times a day, coupled with a sensible diet. 6 weeks already and I haven’t even move half a kg. It’s CRAP! Wasted all my time and money (even bought the most expensive honey on the shelf). It’s nothing but just a hype!

As for the cinnamon drink – why not. You can try it and i doubt it can affect your baby’s weight in any way. However, you should consult a doctor before start taking it. See what he will say about the breastfeeding and the cinnamon.
You can use it for weight loss, but please don’t hope for fast and miraculous results, like most people do. The effect is subtle and takes some time.

I can’t understand what exactly you mean – warm as in boiling water left to cool or warm as in warmed just a little without boiling. If it’s the first – OK, as for the second – you need to boil the water first and then to cool it.

I have read from a variety of places that it is good for weight loss. But I hate the taste of cinnamon and especially cinnamon powder. I tried boiling cinnamon sticks and honey and water and the taste is much better. Any idea of the difference between cinnamon powder and stick?

If you like the taste more that way – it is OK, there is no difference if you take the honey and cinnamon drink with cinnamon powder or sticks.

Let me start by saying that I too have been drinking this mixture for the past several days. I have noticed that bowel movements are more regular, and IBS isn’t hampered, but indeed relieved to a point. I have also noticed a sweaty forehead often since I’ve been drinking this. I’ve not weighed myself, but have noticed about 1/2 inch less from my waist.
I want real stories here. This seems to be almost a forgotten thread. Tell us all of your experiences with this tea. I can’t see it being bad – I can only imagine positives. Let me know – let us ALL know how it’s helped YOU.
It’s extremely important that the honey is raw. If it is cooked, more than what is desired of the helpful indredients are destroyed. Pure Honey is not the same thing as Raw Honey, so beware of that term. Find honey that states it’s uncooked or that states it is Raw : )
It would be a shame for a bunch of people to decide this method did not work because they were using cooked or imitation honey…

Im confused as to if this works or not since some of u are claiming its a hype. no harm trying it after all its herbal! only time will tell. some poeple have lost 3 kgs a week, so it says but others claim to have little or no effect at all. Sorry, but so far this seems like nothing but hype. There always seems to be some buts. If I have a speicific diet & exercise pattern and stay the same weight, it seems this mixture should cause a weight loss. The moment something else is added such as changing eating habits and additional excercise then the mixture is a hype since all that was needed was to eat less and exercise more to lose the weight. The mixture would not be necessary.

GeorgeD, first of all it is free. Second it easy to prepare. So what is the problem to use it?
The quantities and doseages given are incorrect.
I once lost about 30 pounds by taking 2 capsules of cinnamon before each meal. It took a while for it to start working but when it did, it really dropped off pretty quickly.
If you are going to do the tea method, use a tsp of cinnamon in the morning and again in the evening, preferably before meals. Cinnamon works by 2 mechanisms: it stops the huge insulin surge after a carb meal, and cinnamon is a very potent fungicide. It kills candida and any other other fungus in the digestive tract, along with many types of paracites as well. janet

I have been drinking this cinnamon concoction and must admit that it works wonders. i was 72 kgs before and after the taking this went down to 50. Again after my pregnancy my post pregnancy weight was 79 and it dropped down later to 59. Must say that u got to try it out to belive it!!!

I have just started having this last night after reading about the success stories. I am generally not able to watch my diet so well; but yes I do try and get some exercise. I also am not very overweight. Just a few extra pounds. Want to lose a few inches, so was wondering if it helps only very obese people?

However, don’t think hot water affects honey in any way. The whole point here is to make the honey and cinnamon paste first and then poor the hot water.

Thank you for your question. It’s true that I started drinking the honey and cinnamon combo almost a year ago.
Did that make any difference for me? Oh yeah, the first couple of weeks like a dream for me. I felt great, full of energy and happy, cause I managed to get into my favorite pair of jeans again just in 3 weeks 🙂
The weeks after that were no different from the first two, but I got used to the drink and for a while I thought it wasn’t working any more. Luckily I was wrong. The honey an cinnamon drink works all the time while being used, even if you don’t see obvious results, believe me it’s working.
I used it for over 8 months without any exercises or diets. I lost over 6 kgs ~ 14 pounds, which was perfect for me – I weighed 126 lbs.
Now I haven’t been using it for a couple of months, but I am still around 128-130 lbs, which is OK for me. I am sure that if I practiced some exercising I would keep it more around 127 lbs.

Of course you can warm the honey and cinnamon drink in the morning if you don’t like it cold. Despite the fact I didn’t like its either, I have never warmed it while I was drinking it.
Second to both of you:
Yes, you can double the amounts of honey and cinnamon (2 tablespoons of honey with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder) if you like the taste of so much cinnamon, but I don’t see why you should do it as it works great the way I’ve recommended it.
I know that Bianca have also read about these doubled amounts quite some time ago and asked me the same question which are the right quantities. I am sorry for the late response Bianca, but here it is now – there are not right or wrong quantities of honey and cinnamon, it all depends on how you will like 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in only one tea cup.
If you like it then use 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, otherwise keep to the regular 1/2 teaspoon.

I’ve said only before breakfast, but you can take it half an hour before breakfast, if that’s OK with you.
As most herbal weight loss products are recommended to be taken half to one hour before meal, I think this could work for the honey and cinnamon drink too.

If you don’t have cinnamon powder at hand, you can grind the sticks and follow the instructions from my post to prepare the honey and cinnamon drink.
I am not sure if it’s OK for the cinnamon sticks to boil in the water for 10 minutes.
If you can’t grind the cinnamon sticks then crack them in small pieces, mix them with the honey and poor the boiling water.

As told i have started taking as u advised by cracking the cinnamon sticks them in small pieces, mix them with the honey and pour boiling water wait for 1/2 an hour and then strain the drink. I do this morning and night hope to see +ve results.

I am going to start it. I got this “buzz” and was doing some research and all i found on the net is an old article which has been posted by bloggers and published by editors from time endless. No concrete information.
you post was good it actually has the right amount to be used.
My aunt used it in the same way you have mentioned but she had it only once a day (10 minutes before sleeping). She did not measure her weight but she measure her waist and she lost two inches.
So I feel that all the people who don’t feel they are loosing anything could be even excercising. Muscle weight much more than fat and if you even put on an inch of muscle when you are excercising to lose weight, measure your weight is not the right thing to to measure your progress.
Another important thing. Cinammons flavour has been invented years ago. In cinamon flavoured instant coffee powders etc. And the cinnamon powder that you get in the super markets(or packed ones) could very well be sawdust that has been coloured and artificially flavoured. I think it is better to get the bark and powder it yourself.
Readymade cinnamond powder can be very old lose all its aroma and has to be adultrated in some form or the other.
Trust me because when i got the ingredients i got the costliest honey of the shelf(I think someone in the comments too did that but i don’t think he got the costliest cinamon off the shelf) and got the best cinaamon. It was in foot long piecies. And the aroma just fills the whole room.

One more thing Cinamon can be confused for cassia and infact many powdered forms use cassia(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassia) It is also known as “bastard cinnamon”. I dont think anyone is going to lose weight with this.
True cinamon is also known as cylon cinamon.
therea re other varaints that is indonesian and vietnamese. So avoid anything that is from these countries. Specifically ask for Cylon cinammon.
Cinnamomum zeylanicum is the botanical name of the stuff that really works.
I request you Galia Ivanova to include the above in your article. Caution them to use only freshly ground cinamon and only Cylon cinnamon. Even pure honey is a key factor.

Have you heard of Garcinia cambogia(malabar tamarind/Kodumpulli) I lost 10 kgs in 20 days. I stopped it because i was irregular and I eat a lot. So this has happened many times I eat “Kodumpulli” for a week or so and then stop and then eat nicely and put that weight back on. I have eaten it many times. Once i was on a diet of 2-3 oily fried stuff for breakfast, tibetean food for lunch(with butter tea) and lost of snacks and dominos pizzza for dinner. For a week i was busy and went wild with home delivery. But i relegiously eat “Kodumpulli” before each meal at the end of the week when i checked my weight i had lost 3 kgs.

I recently tried mixing cinnamon in with my coffee grinds in the morning before bruing my coffee. It is delicious and has a wonderfull aroma. I looked into the benefits of cinnamon and was excited to see it is a good source fo fiber that prmotes weightloss. I am going to add this to my diet every day and will tell of my results. I will also only eat 1400 calories a day and am trying to get to 30g. of dietary fiber a day.
I started on this honey and cinnamon last night and had another one this morning on an empty stomach, but i didnt filter it. Is it ok.

Here is the thing. People have problems with weight loss for a variety of reasons. For some people it is because of eating in excess, thyroid problems, or a number of other health reasons. You need to go to your doctor to find out if your weight problem is due to a medical condition so you can treat your specific problem. As for myself, I have done that and have had a variety of test done and have found out that I have insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome. In this case cinnamon might help. I just take straight cinnamon in a teaspoon and drink it with water twice a day. It has worked so far for me. Because cinnamon lowers sugar in the blood stream, my body doesn’t have the high amount of sugar to store as fat. I also exercise three time a week for a hour at a time and I don’t eat white bread and refined sugar. That means no candy, chips, cookies, white bread, or other junk food. My diet consist of organic fresh vegetables, fruit, whole grain often not in the form of bread, lean meats, dairy, and limited amounts of fats mostly good fats such as olive oil. I still have 50 pounds to go but at least I have now started to loose some weight when before, even working with doctors and exercising, I wasn’t able to lose any. Good luck to those of you who were like me and did what the dietitions told you and exercised and could not lose weight!! I had to do a lot of research on my own and decided for myself I would try eating organic foods, herbs, spices, and keep practicing good eating habits in combination with exercise. It has been a long journey for me and I hope this is a bright new beginning.

I’m 6’4″ tall and before I tried the mixture I weighed 245lbs. I got the recipie from another site where like a previous poster mentioned, the mixture was 2 teaspoons honey and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a cup of boiling water. As per the intructions I had a cup in the morning a 1/2 an hour before breakfast and then one right after dinner. I did this every day for two weeks without doing a ton of excersise and lost 15 lbs. I stopped for after 3 weeks and gained 6 pounds. I started working out a few times a week and lost maybe a pound per week. I felt energetic but I was not losing much weight. I went back to taking the drink and noticed that I was losing 2lbs per week. It’s been about three months in total and I’m a little under 230lbs ( I was naughty for a week and gained a couple of pounds again. ). I’ll keep this up but I have a feeling that I’m reaching a point of diminishing returns which isn’t a bad thing as I’m not obese but just need to lose a bit of ab fat which I don’t think is going to happen by just drinking cinnamon and honey.
I made changes to my diet prior to discovering this mixture which was cutting the amount that I ate. I eat smaller portions and don’t snack at night. This helped me to slow down the weight gain but didn’t help me lose any. Eating less plus using the mixture gave great results. I have to try cutting out the refined sugar and stick to eating whole grain bread and pasta.
I wonder if there are any scientific studies about this that would shed some light on the matter of who would actually benefit from this and to what extent. As with any of these weight loss regimens they aren’t for everyone. It did help me though and I think it’s continuing to do so. I’m not losing weight as fast I did when I first started out but I’m still losing so I’ll stick with it.

In fact using a coffee filter is not a must, I also have tried an ordinary strainer and it works OK for me. As for the thin cloth it is fine too.
What’s left in the coffee filter, the strainer or the thin cloth should be taken out – it IS NOT for drinking. Not that is so bad. After all we talk about the honey and cinnamon “drink” here not the “gelly”

hello some time ago i ran across the honey and cinnamon for weightloss and was going to try it and completely forgot about it. while surfing the net i ran acrossed it again and tonight i am going to start it along with an exercise program i have been following for 3 days now. i am 200 lbs. if not more by now and i have to lay down to zip my pants and i am fed up with it. i am not going out to buy larger pants, especially when i have box after box of smaller ones stored away.

I know what you mean. The taste is good the first couple of days and you love it. But then when you get used to it, you start to drink it thinking only about the long lasting funny taste of sweet honey and rich cinnamon flavor in your mouth. My question is similar to that of Naz, will there be no problem drinking the mixture together without filtering?
I’ve been taking the mixture ,well I call it “cinnamon juice”, religiously for 1 1/2 weeks now, no change yet, but I’m not losing hope.

may i please infrom you people who ve started using the honey cinnamon mixture it really works and i started it and ve lost about 3 kgs for using it for about three or four weeks you really loose a lot of fat int eh body and you start to even put on clothes which were already small for you. use it with patience and you shall notice the difference. Dont expect very quick response and each body ahs its own mechanism of responding to such things so to some will be faster but to some twill take time give youself a montha nd you will see a very big difference. This is to tell you it does work it has taken about 3 weeks but can tell a difference and have more energy than I have in a while . Have been walking 2 miles every day (unless it rains) sometimes I get 3 but can finally feel like I can honestly say something has helped

My fiancé has started drinking this mixture from the past 4 days. He says he is feeling lethargic and he is looking dull. Today he started complaining of body pains. If I had pushed him into trying this I would have thought he is just making excuses. But he started this weight loss program on his own so he really should be feeling bad. Is is common during the initial stage. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

Heating will reduce the good enzimes in the honey. If you are using honey that was heated during the packing process the enzimes are already damaged. For those who lost nothing I would suggest you try honey that has not been heated too much and don’t boil your honey with the water.

no the drink gives energy not make you lethargic. Unless he is diabetic because cinnamon lowers blood sugar fast. the only effects it can have is feeling very hot and sweaty cos it raises temp. hence a fat burner.

I am wondering if you get the same effect as filtering the honey/cinnamon tea if you just let the tea set and the cinnamon settles to the bottom. Then you can drink the liquid at the top of the container.
Tried filtering the tea through natural papertowels over a large wire strainer. It took forever.

I am unbelievably out of honey…even cheapy honey…the ONLY honey I could find was some honey packets from a trip to Kentucky Fried chicken (lol, I wonder why I want to loose weight hahahaha) anyway they are HONEY SAUCE—honey and that horrible High fructose Corn syrup…I threw them out and just made some herbal tea and added about a half teaspoon of cinamon to the cup…
I was adding extra cinnamon to my food here and there but had forgotten recently.
I also wanted to debate the poster that thought the more common cinnamon we get in the supermarkets was not the right one—the research I have seen was using the common cinnamon not the fancy TRUE cinnamon.

I just made my first cup and I’m drinking it right now. It really tasty. I didn’t strain it because I wanted to keep it easy. I’m trying to lose 15 lbs and I’m hoping this will help! I am going to try this starting tonight. I have read that if you buy local honey it can help with seasonal allergies and that is the main thing I was looking for when I did a Google search and found this site. I want to lose 12 lbs. before July 4th weekend, so I think I’ll try this concoction and see if it works. I do cardio workouts at the gym every day and incorporate resistance training into that when I am home. I’ll keep everyone posted on my progress since this little blog is a nice way to stay motivated.
Oh yeh, since nobody knows me…I am 5’7″ tall and weigh in at 162 lbs today, my BMI is 25.5 and needs to be just below 24. That sounds like a lot of weight (at least I think it does), but my trainer at the gym tells me that I don’t carry a lot of body fat. Muscle weighs more than fat, so I am told that is where most of my weight comes from.
I will keep everyone posted as to the effects of the honey/cinnamon drink.

I went to the Capitol Market here in Charleston, WV and found a bottle cinnamon honey. The ingredients were WV honey, cinnamon oil and cinnamon sticks. I made the “tea” with it last night and this morning and it was delicious! No filtering involved either. I just boiled 1 cup of H2O and added about 2 tablespoons of the honey and stirred it up. It was so easy and fast to make it with the cinnamon already in the honey.

I started using the honey and cinnamaon on 3/6/08,i have seen a big difference on how my pants fit,I’ve lost a lot in inches.I think that this remedy works.
I have been drinking this for a week and I do love the energy it gives. I almost feel it immediately. I have just been using the honey from Wal Mart. I will go to the health food store today to get some other honey and also look for cinnamon powder. Does anybody else have a problem with the tea turning slimy? I use to look forward to the tea but that slimy stuff is making me hesitant. In general I have felt great drinking the tea. Itried filtering it but the stuff just blocks the filter. I only get a drink or 2 from the filtered stuff? Any tips?????

About 10 minutes after beginning to drink this, I became violently ill. Have any of you found that this makes you throw up?
Well, I have been drinking this mixture for seven days now, morning and evening. I have not seen any weight change. I have actually been very sick with body aches and an upset stomach for the last two days, but I don’t think it has anything to do with the honey. I’ll keep drinking the honey and cinnamon to see if it will just take a while for it to kick in with me. I guess we are not allowed to put in links to websites, but I have bought a cinnamon honey from ThistleDew Farms in WV and you don’t have to filter it. This sounds great!! I’m gonna start with it today. As you say the cinnmon and honey mixture should be taken half an hour before breakfast, is it ok to have coffee before that? As i start work at 6AM and take a coffee break at 7:30 AM and i have breakfast at 9AM!!!
Also wanted to know if its ok to make the mixture in the night & consume it in the morning?
Cinnamon can certainly help with weightloss since it assists in keeping blood sugar levels under control. While this is a perfectly good drink to have, it is not a magic bullet. Eating lots of carbs and fat and not getting enough exercise will make you and keep you fat- regardless of what else you may do.

I read everyone’s experiene with honey and cinnamon. I started drinking last week, but when i weighed myself it showed me 1pound weight gain. I don’t know whether i should continue or not? Let me know.
I have been taking this for about 3 weeks now. I finally bought a cinnamon spice tea from the health food store. I have added additional cinnamon but I can see why you you would want to strain. I think it is just a matter of choice. At night when I am too tired and don’t have time for tea I just put the honey on a teaspoon and sprinkle with cinnamon and get her down. It really doesn’t taste that bad. Especially the organic raw. I read somewhere that someone just took a teaspoon of honey before bed and lost weight. Think it was off a link on this forum. I did not measure or weigh myself but I do feel lighter and believe my arms and shoulders are firming up as well as thighs. It has only been about 3 weeks though. I am sure exercise would help it along quicker.
If you are feeling sick maybe you should cut down on the cinnamon and gradually add more as you go along. Some stomachs are more sensitive to spices. And it is a strong spice, I can feel a little burn when I have cinnamon honey toast.
I did read somewhere NOT to add lemon. I don’t remember why or where but I will try to find it.

Okay I searched a little but didn’t find anything on lime. But I did find that people also use honey and lemon water for energy and also to loose weight. I am not sure what the lime would do to the effects of cinnamon if anything. I guess you would just have to try it and see unless someone else posts their experiences with it. Tess

Well, today marks 2 weeks of trying cinnamon honey to lose weight. It’s not working for me, I’ve acutally gained about four pounds. I am probably some weird phenomenon that cannot lose the weight on this diet while everyone else can. I’ll just go back to the tried and true method of counting calories and hitting the gym (as usual).
i should have read this first , i needed something for a bladder infection,
it said – 2 tablespoons of cinnamon / 1 teaspoon honey , so i did that
with hot water , i drank as much as i could stand – about 90% of it , i
got bad burping and real nasty taste in my mouth , then my stomach
bothered me , this lasted about 90 minutes , not sure if i’ll try
that again , maybe the paste and wait thing would be a better idea .

Yes, I have weighed 117 kilos and after taking this mixture Monday to Friday. I just did not take it on the the weekends. and YES I NOW WEIGH 110kilos. So you calculate the difference……
I would be confident in saying it works. I do not like doing exercise and too busy, so cannot go for walks….I eat normal foods, try not to take too much oil and eat foods like any normal person would eat….

Hi Becky, If you like the taste of it keep doing it a bit longer. Give it a month. If you counted calories and started the gym again it may give an additional boost. If you don’t like it, maybe you can just take a tsp of honey before bed and chase it down with water. It surely can’t hurt. Tess

Hey, for anyone who reads this far, I have some helpful advice.
–First, the honey must be RAW and UNCOOKED. You will probably have to visit a health food store to find it.
–Secondly, you must not add the raw honey while the water is boiling. You are supposed to let the cinnamon sit in the boiling water (cover the glass or whatever you’re using to make the mix – a paper towel works fine) for half an hour. This makes the cinnamon stronger and also allows the water to cool some. Then add the raw honey after 30 minutes. If you add the honey earlier, it will lose its effectiveness because the heat of the water will make the enzymes in the honey inactive.
–Drink half of the mixture immediately (right before bed) and refrigerate and drink the other half the next morning as soon as you wake. Do NOT reheat the mixure in the a.m. because, as mentioned earlier, heat kills the enzymes and makes the honey inactive.
THIS DOES WORK. I had a colonoscopy 6 months ago and also have used other colon cleasing products. I thought that my colon was “clean” enough that the mixture wouldn’t work for me. I noticed nothing the first two days, but on day three, I began going to the bathroom a lot more and began losing weight. More than weight, you can expect to lose inches- assuming you have a tummy to lose.
There may be a little cramping and diarrhea, but it’s worth it to get cleaned out and lose weight! Of course once you’ve cleaned out your system, the weight loss with slow and even stop. Then it’s up to you to keep the weight off with exercise, proper diet, etc. Good luck. If it worked for me, it should work for you! 🙂

I have been taking this for a month and I DO love it. I started noticing results after 2 weeks.
I also had a few itchy bumps like hives. I did a research and found that too much cinnamon can cause skin irritations on some sensitive people although I do not consider myself sensitive. Two others I know drinking this also had rash or bumps. We figured it was the cinnamon and I think we were just taking too much. I was taking boxed cinnamon tea from the health food store and using my own cinnamon powder drink at night. I ran out of tea so I just cut off the cinnamon for a couple of days. The bumps have dried up. I will begin again when the tea comes back in stock, this time more slowly with just the cinnamon tea and gradually work up. I liked the results way too much to quit. Plus it has so many other health benefits.

I have started the honey cinnamon fat loss program and I’m hoping to see some results. The information I have for mixing the drink is as follows. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, stir let sit for 30min. after 30min. stir in 1 tsp of honey. Drink half a cup in the moring 30min. before breakfast and half a cup before bedtime. It is not advisable to pour the boiling water over the honey, it kills the enzyms that are required to reduce the fat in your body. I don’t strain it, I just give it a stir before I drink it.

What I do is make the drink in the night. By first placing a teaspoon of cinnamon in a large cup and then pouring in the hot water from the hot water jug, then cover it and let is rest for about 30 min then stir in a teaspoon of honey….By that time it has cooled down..Drink half that cup in the night after dinner and the balance half cup half an hour before breakfast…..

I started this doing exacly the way it say to do it at the top of the page.And i have lost 3 pounds in 5 days.Knowing what it takes for me to lose weight i did not think this would work.usually i find myself on a 1200 calorie diet to lose weight.While this does not mean you can over eat i have been keeping track and have ate between 1500 to 2000 calories a day and walking one mile.Which seems to be minamum compared to what i usually have to do to lose weight.I still have 10 pounds to lose and will continue drinking the tea i think its great and it works very well.for those of you who think it takes up to much time to make the tea and wait for 30 mins it seems to me that its worth effort in every way.what i dont understand is why everyone is trying to cut corners and not doing it the way it says to do it on the top of this page.believe me it works.

Cassia is reddish brown in color and cinnamon is more of a brown.Cassia is mainly sold in the United states at the supermarkets you think your getting real cinnamon but its mainly Cassia.If this creates a problem for you i would go to a health food store and they should have it there.

Jo, I believe it will affect you breastfeeding your infant.After doing alot of research on this tea and yes i have lost weight useing it.I quit drinking it because i found out that this tea acts as a laxative stripping you of all your vitamins in your body.It is ok to drink once in awhile but to drink it over a long period of time it can cause damage to your insides.As i posted earlier it does work but not in a healthy way.

I started drinking the Honey and Cinnamon drink nearly 2 weeks ago. Intially I lost a lot of weight, nearly 9 pounds in 3 days but it’s started to come back. I was 13 stone 10, I went to 13 stone 2 now I’m back on 13 stone 6. I think this may have something to do with the take away pizza’s and chinese so I’m not too bothered it’s gone back up a little. I’m sure it’ll go back down now I’m not allowing myself any takeaway food for a while. I have noticed other things than the weight loss which make it worth the hassle in itself. I’m more awake than usual, waking up in the mornings is a lot easier and my energy levels seem to stay higher for much longer. At times I’ve felt hyperactive in the afternoon, many hours after drinking the tea/juice. This is very strange for me and shows it’s working. Also, I’ve suffered from a bad back for the last 7 years and have bad joints which do cause pain from time to time. Since starting this I can hand on heart say that I’ve not felt ANY pain in my back or joints. You don’t understand how good it feels to have NO pain in my back, since I’ve had pain or discomfort of some sort since I intially hurt it nearly a decade ago. I’m also more “on the ball” than usual. My brain seems to be functioning better. Cinnamon has been proved to increase brain activity and I can vouch that this is true. My brain seems to be working somewhere closer to 100% than it previously did.
I’ve told everyone I know about this drink and a number of them have started it and those who haven’t are waiting a few weeks to see how it goes for me. Yesterday I bought 3kg’s of honey so you could say I think it’s going well at least.
To answer a question above, AS I think asked about heating the honey.
DO NOT HEAT THE HONEY, EVER
You must also buy the correct type of honey and cinnamon. Raw honey is essential. It must be raw. Raw honey has never been heated and therefore still contains all the good bits this drink requires. Heating the honey removes all the good stuff so don’t, I repeat, don’t, ever, ever, heat the honey :oD
The cinnamon must also by Ceylon cinnamon, you’ll probably have to have a look around the internet for both of these things. I found my local health food shop sold nether, and looked at me funny when I asked about them. She obviously doesn’t know what she’s missing out on.
Anyway, if you’ve not already started I implore you to do so.
You won’t regret it.

Well, low and behold I’m down again! 13 stone 4! So that’s 6 pounds in under two weeks. I have a feeling this drink would be good be I’m literally blown away by how good it is.

I am planning to try this again. I used it for a bladder infection that was not clearing up with antibiotics. It worked. However, there is some concern from the FDA about the overuse of cassia cinnamon—it is banned in several countries in Europe. Cassia cinnamon is what is sold in US stores as cinnamon. You can check the internet regarding coumarin to see info on this. I have ordered Ceylon cinnamon from Savory Spice Shop to use instead. If you have any type of liver disease—be extremely cautious about using this method of weight loss. I do not know what type of cinnamon was used in the research study.
Just to clarify my last post—I just noticed that Scott stressed that one use Ceylon cinnamon—but did not say why. Cassia cinnamon contains couramin which should not be used in large amounts. Ceylon cinnamon is ok because it has very little couramin. There is a company on the internet that ships ceylon cinnamon from overseas, in addition to the Colorado company I ordered from. The price on Ceylon cinnamon runs from about $16 to $25 a pound plus shipping—so it is not expensive. Ceylon cinnamon sticks are also sold on several sites. Have’nt checked out raw honey as I know a man who knows a man who has a honey business. He travels all over the US with his bees according to seasons. And he (and his bees)winter just about 40 miles from where I live, so I’ll check with him.

Hey guys… I think I’m getting the same results from having the honey and cinnamon on whole grain organic toast.
The ‘tea’ – even the half cup – proved to be a little too much for my sensitive tummy when it was empty. So, I thought… well, it’s better to take it period than not at all. So, I popped some of my bread in the toaster (whole grain organic, mind you), afterwards, spread on the honey, then loaded it down with cinnamon (I say loaded it down … when it’s all said and done, I probably shake out 3/4 of a teaspoon or so). I’ve been doing that for the last week, and I have to say, I’ve noticed a difference. It’s as if fat is just kinda burning off and showing the muscle.
You have to be careful not to blow the cinnamon off … or you can can really carefully mix it and make a nice paste on the toast. But it’s easier on my tummy this way, AND I’m seeing results.

I have been drinking this mixture of cinnamona and honey for more than a month and I am disappointed that I did not lose weight at all. Some say that they started losing weight within one or two weeks of drinking this mixture but even after more than a month results are nil for me. And I am also doing exercises along with that and inspite of that no effect at all for me. Can anyone explain why it is like that for me. Or may be if I do like what Cathy Hellesto says eating this mixture with the bread toast than with water it may give effect. can anyone remove my doubt please?

I have been doing this for 2 months. I have to admit it is a very slow but steady weight loss. Usually I would notice weight loss in the thighs and hips first. But on this tea it started in my back and shoulders and is very slowly working it’s way down. My thighs have no loss at all but my shirts do fit much better. My bras loosened up quite a bit.I wouldn’t think I was losing anything because my jeans did not feel any difference til recently. I am glad I didn’t give up and quit.It is worth it, because it is cheap and safe. You just have to be committed and take it faithfully. I just take tea in the morning and a teaspoon of honey at night by itself. It is a very slow process it seems but it is working, I just wish it would have been faster. I haven’t changed anything else in my habits. Exercise would probably help a bunch. So check other areas on your body other than your jeans. Don’t quit!

The taste really sucks , but i want to lose some weight so i just eat it . It is been only 4 dAYS i didn’t see any results. this honey and cinnamon reciepie sounds got.Can I put honey and cinnamon mixture in hot drinkable water and can I drink immediately after mixing. And at night should I drink cold without making it hot again.
The honey should be unpasteurized as the pasteurization removes most of the honey’s benefits. This is also why you should not put the honey directly into the boiling water. The cinnamon will react better with the unpasteurized honey in a more potent way. Note that you can not purchase unpasteurized honey in grocery stores etc…you can find it in most farmers markets. Also do not reheat the mixture for the same reason as I mentioned above. Drink it either room temperature or straight from the fridge. Good luck all!!

Hi Mythili. Add the honey to the steeped cinnamon. The temperature of the water will have cooled down enough to not affect the honey. It is ok to drink while still warm but when you drink the last half the following morning do NOT reheat.
Hi, is there any impact if I can’t get Ceylon cinnamon and raw honey? Since I’ve been looking in my city, hard to find those 2 special one. And for some people that keep trying after 1 month or so but not loosing weight, is it could be because U guys just get simple cinnamon & honey (didn’t use exactly ‘Ceylon’ cinnamon and ‘raw’ honey. have u measure your inches? IMHO, to measure this mix success not just weight. who knows ur inches also lost using this one. Instead of using the cinnamon powder though I use the cinnamon sticks… Much easier on the kidneys. Also works wonders on diabetes and high cholesterol

I tried the drink for 3 weeks and instead of losing gained 4 lbs and about to stop drinking the tea, then somebody told me that if you want to lose weight drink it ONLY before going to bed NOT in the morning. Drinking it in the mrning add to the calories just like other foods.

Yes, you can boil the cinnamon sticks. As for the amount of water it depends on the amount or cinnamon powder you can get from a single stick. (Make a test and grind one stick to see how many cinnamon powder tbsp you get from it – use water according to that amount). Don’t boil more than one stick at a time.

I started this drink a little over a week ago. This past Sunday, Monday & Tuesday I felt as if my belly would explode. It was a terrible pain. I had this stomach expanding problem. I used to feel fatigued in the morning when I wake up before honey + cinnamon mix drink.
This drink gave me energy in the mornings, so I did not want to stop it.
Then I started taking yogurt with dinner, to control my expanding stomach. I think that is working. Now it is better.
Also I have noticed that if you do light exercise , like walking , you lose weight much faster than before with this drink.
Also my skin has a glow, earlier it was dry.
FYI…you need to use raw, unpasturized honey. If the lable doesn’t say Raw then it’s probably been pasturized. Pasturization destroys the enzymes in the honey and without the enzymes, the diet won’t work. Putting raw honey in hot water can destroy the enzymes as well. So, get raw honey, add it and the cinnamon to lukewarm water and enjoy.

5. Drink 1/2 of this directly before going to bed. The other 1/2 should be covered and refrigerated.
6. In the morning drink the other half that you refirgerated…but do not re-heat it…drink it cold or at room temp only.
Do not add anything else to this recipe. No lemon, no lime, no vinegar. It is not necessary to drink it more time in a day…it is only effective on an empty stomach and primarily at night.
This works for most people. Inches are lost before any measurement on the scales. This program will cause significant inches lost…but you will reach a plateau and may not lose anymore. This is because the cinnamon and honey cause a cleansing effect in the digestive tract and cleans out parasites and other fungus and bacteria that slow down the digestion…causing a toxic build up. (Lowers pH) Once this is all cleaned out then you will most likely have the weight loss slow down.
Other side effects from a cleansing can occur because of toxins being released…if this occurs, cut back on how much you use or take a break.

As I am not a doctor, I cannot advise you to take or not to the drink. You must consult your doctor treating you for diabetes if honey is good for you to take it twice a day.
I know the cinnamon is good for diabetics and the honey (raw) is better for diabetics than white sugar. Even if the honey requires lower levels of insulin compared to regular white sugar and does not raise blood sugar levels as rapidly as white sugar, it is essential for all diabetics to consult with their doctor prior starting to take honey on their own.
It is important that every diabetic ask their doctor how much honey a day is OK.

Some months ago I started eating instant oatmeal with one teaspoon of Splenda added to it and powdered cinnamon. I have eaten this every morning from Monday-Friday for a couple of months now. I work full time and this is an easy breakfast option for me. I started noticing that I started loosing weight and couldn’t figure out why. I have now lost close to 24 pounds and just until recently, did I realize that it was probably the cinnamon that was aiding in my weight loss. I do not add honey as posted on this blog. All I add is 1 package of instant oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of splenda, and about 2 Tablespoons of cinnamon and add hot water to the oatmeal. I do not add milk to this, only water. (I do not measure the cinnamon, but do put plenty of it in the oatmeal).

Just an FYI, you will find this process will work better if you add the cinnamon to the boiling water first by itself, letting it steep for a 20 minutes and then adding the honey. Adding the honey after the water has cooled will keep all the active ingredients from being degraded or destroyed altogether – honey should never be boiled, cooked or baked with as some toxic substances can be created. At the very least, you will lower the potency of the honey by heating it (hence, unpasteurized honey is better than pasteurized).
I’m a little confused about the 1/2 cup before bed how does this get heated???

It depends on when you prepare the drink:
1. If you make it in the morning then you will drink it warm in the morning and cold in the evening (I do not recommend to heat it in the microwave because of the honey in it).
2. If you make it in the evening (like I do) then you will drink it warm in before bed and cold in the morning. I am in such a hurry in the morning that I don’t care if it’s warm or cold.

You can get the raw honey at any natural food store (i.e. whole foods, wegmans)

I have told many people with diabetes about the blood sugar leveling factor in cinnamon and it has always seemed to help them. Also since cinnamon is a metabolic stimulator it makes sense it would work for weight loss. I just found out that it might also work for high cholesterol. I don’t know much on those levels about honey. I do know that it is a germ fighter and very good for people with allergies and other immune deficiency problems. But you do have to buy the raw stuff definitely not the processed stuff you get at most grocery stores.
I wish everyone here luck and me too 🙂 BTW, I think that the cinnamon and honey in oatmeal would also work just fine.

Just want to let you know I have been doing a lot of research of many sites. They say Not to add the honey while the liquid is hot. This will kill the effects of the honey. Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon with 8oz of boiling water and let it cool for half an hour, then add the 1 tsp of honey. Stir well and drink 4 of the 8oz first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and the rest on an empty stomach before bed. They also recommend pure raw unprocessed or uncooked honey. Again the heating process will kill the honey benefits. I am doing this for the health factor as much as the weight loss. I will keep you posted.

Do not add anything else to this recipe. No lemon, no lime, no vinegar. It is not necessary to drink it more time in a day…it is only effective on an empty stomach and primarily at night.

please don’t get frustrated, i don’t think it’s an exact science. I think exact amounts of water or honey are not important, but that is just my belief. There probably is no one right way, but I would stress NOT to add boiling water to the honey. Just start trying it! Perhaps people have lost weight different methods. The important thing is to have the honey and cinnamon. I add green tea just for my own added benefit, as greet tea is good for weight loss as well (among other things) Good luck!

i use honey and cinnamon and found it works very well to keep your cravings at bay. i boil water and pour a little over 1 cup over 1/2 tsp of cinnamon then steep for 30 minutes. I then drain the cinnamon paste to make 1 cup of cinnamon water and i refrigerate (i tolerate the taste better this way). At bedtime I drink 1/2 c with 1/2 tsp raw honey (straight from spoon). And do the same in a.m. 30 minutes before eating. I’ve lost 20 pounds so far.
i believe it’s important to add that the drink alone probably wouldn’t do much for weight loss. I watch my caloric intake and excercise regularly. the drink helps control my cravings and does a good job of decreasing my appetite which makes it easier for me to stick to my diet. it really does work in conjunction with diet and excercise.
I am not able to find RAW HONEY locally. Has any one got results with processed honey here? I believe with processed one results are not as effective as raw one. Just want to know if processed one doesn’t work at all.

I’ve been reading about this cinnamon and honey idea. I can’t help but feel it is just another useless fad (there just aren’t a lot of long term results around). I haven’t tried it (perhaps I will try it and post again in the future to tell you that it is in fact a miracle weight loss tea?!). Seriously though, if it were that easy to lose weight, wouldn’t pharmaceutical companies have been onto it long before now? They’re both yummy (and I know how much I love a drop of cinnamon essential oil in the bathtub), but Cinnamon is a strong irritant and I’m not sure that large amount of cinnamon every day is healthy (I also read another blog that mentioned someone got really ill each time she drank it).
This only works if ou use active honey and that is honey with active enzymes. Any form of heat will destroy the enzymes that do the work for you. So I mix like this:
1. 2 teaspoons cinnamon mixed to paste with a little boiling water.
2. Leave to cool.
3. Mix in 2 teaspoons of honey and mix with enough cold water to make up 1 cup.
4. Drink half 30 mins before breakfast in the morning and the other half before bed at night. Yum it tastes wonderful.

This works for most people. Inches are lost before any measurement on the scales. This program will cause significant inches lost…but you will reach a plateau and may not lose anymore. I do not know if I agree that putting honey with it has any weight loss benefits to the body, however, when I use honey it increases my desire to ingest more sugar. Honey is pure sugar and can, have an opposite effect. Instead put cinnamon into a protein shake, or sprinkle cinnamon on oatmeal. There are alot of other ways to get the benefits from cinnamon without all of that sugar.
Also, a healthy immune system can contribute to a consider amount of healthy natural weight loss.
hello i am from Alaska,,,i have been hearing about cinnamon being good for weight loss so i got on internet checking things out,and came across cinnamon/honey with hot water,,figured it sounded easy,but does it work,,so i say to myself,what do i got to lose,i am gonna try it,,this is day 2 for me,,as i go along i will let you know how things are going for me,but
cinnamon is an antimicrobial and if you use to much as I did, 2 to 3 tsp of ground cinnamon a day it can kill the natural flora or microbes in you GI tract as it did mine; I spent three days of living hell with the worst diarrhea you can imagine, I lost seven pounds in 24 hours but that is not the way to loose weight; I am still suffering from the side effects of dehydration; that being dizziness, weakness, upset stomach and moore. So be careful what you put in your stomach.
From the posts I’ve read, some people have had success while others have not. As I was unable to find an article providing suitable information on how to use a cinnamon and honey tea effectively, nor explaining why it can work, I did some research into its properties to discover this for myself.

I think that Bernadette (July 2007) said it all when she suggested “YOU ALSO NEED TO CHANGE YOUR EAT HABITS STOP THE SODA AND CANDY. EAT AND DRINK HEALTH FOOD.” Perhaps if you add a little exercise to that and you will not have to take cinnamon and honey.

today is my 2nd day and i only drink 1glass in the morning not in the meaning, 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and 1tsp of honey. AMAZING ! i dont feel hungry so i don’t eat anything LOL ! seriously, i only ate 1 meal a day bcos i ddnt feel hungry at all. before doing it i weighed myself and i was 135 and now 130lbs. idk im not happy yet, i dont really care about weight, i care about how i look, i still have fat belly. oh and i feel so energetic thou i havent eaten anything ( all i ate in the last 2 days was 1 can tuna, raw vegetables and chocolate bars hehehe ). i also workout for an hour daily. i think im losing weight fast but i dont see diffrnce physically, or maybe im just too blind lol cos even waay before tho i was already thin i would also think im fat, lolz anorexic. so anyways im 5’7 and 130lbs ! wooo hoooo ! i want to get down to 110. can’t wait…..

and i agree with someones earlier post, the poeple saying its not working, are probly not excersizing properly, and are not watching what they eat, nothing in this world is effort free weight loss, it takes time and work, this is just an aid to help quicken results from a proper diet / excersize plan, and lifthing weights wont help you lose weight, you need to maintain 140+ heart rate for as long a periouds as possible, if your not in that good of shape, try for 3 10 min sessions a day, im in athletic shape, and just a more than average speed walk down the sidewalk will get me to 130 heart rate, checked with a chest strap, so its not hard to maintain the rate, jump rope puts me at 190 heart rate after 30 seconds. so if your very out of shape, just walking would be plenty at first. ive lost 25 pds so far just from cutting calories and cardio alone. hopeing this speeds up the process.

Honey and cinnamon are both individually good tasting, a desert stuff, mixing it is really great but I haven’t tried them on a drink, only on cakes. Well if this is really effective, then it’s a yummy way to lose weight.

It was my understanding that you needed to use Ceylon cinnamon instead of the kind you find in grocery stores. Also, I use a coffee grinder to make a powder of the Ceylon cinnamon. It still does not melt in the hot water. Do you have to drink the residue the cinnamon leaves or can you just strain it and mix it with the honey?
